ECO - LAND TRUST

“Eco-care is the only effective way to care for people
and the environment”

“We cannot care for the land without caring for people,
and we cannot care for people without caring for the
land”

“People can only eco-care for the land, when they have
access to the land, eco-skills and eco-resources”

ECO - LAND TRUST

WHAT IS THE ECO LAND TRUST?

What is the eco land trust

In brief, the Eco Land Trust is a concept in development, which aims as an umbrella charity, to hold land in trust for ecological management, into perpetuity, and provide such land for affordable lease for the most appropriate use, while providing land use applicants and lessees, with project management and eco-skills development, and professional support. Eco-Land Trust International is developing a model which can be applied at regional or national level, around the world.

THE ELT SOLUTION

The Elt Solution

The Eco-Land Trust is designed to be the solution to the downward spiral in land quality, and decreasing opportunities for land access and eco-satisfying vocations, by

  1. acquiring and putting land into eco-management for perpetuity, under trained trustees

  2. making such land available for individuals and groups, for eco-land management, as co-owners or lessors

  3. assigning land to the most ecologically appropriate use (The Eco-App Principle)

  4. providing lessees with integrative consultancy and support for land and project development, including

    1. Project planning and development

    2. Council planning liaison

    3. consultancy and specialist services e.g. architectural and design consultants, ecobuilders, conservation specialists, etc.

    4. training

  5. ELT Credit and ongoing-support.

  6. setting standards for eco-land management

  7. ensuring eco-land and project management training for all persons including land lessors.

  8. ensuring an ELT Credit system including Lease transfer system.

ELT AIMS

Elt Aims

AIMS; Eco Land Trust aims to be a not-for-profit NGO organisation which;

  1. acquires land and holds it in trust for ecological management, into perpetuity, predominantly by lessees.

  2. ensures land users and prospective applicants for land use, have opportunity to be trained into ESEMT (ECO SCIENCE AND ECOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT TRAINING)

  3. ensures professional and practical support for ELT lessees.

ELT CURRENT GOALS 2016:

Elt Current GOals 2016
  1. Develop the ELT Concept

  2. Develop the model and oversee the implementation of regional or national ELTs around the world.

  3. Communicate the model to the general public - develop online presence

  4. Develop an ‘ELT Netz' of affiliates, prospective contributors (in particular eco-builders and eco-land experts) and interested parties including prospective ELT Lessors

  5. Develop ESEMT Course ( Eco-Science and Eco Management Training)

  6. Attract older women to come forward to be trained into eco-trusteeship, to stand for the Trustee Boards. (Note that if the trustees are not female elders, there are parts of the world where the ELT could not be implemented for cultural reasons).

  7. Develop a core of project implementors, the ELT PIONEERS to take this project to the next stage, and establish a central office.

  8. Implement ‘Save Park House’ - which might be the best site for the first ELT Headquarters in the UK

  9. Support Six Woods project - which might become the first ELT in Australia.

WHY AN ECO-LAND TRUST?

WHY AN eco land trust

The way we use our land affects the quality of our lives.

We all use land in one or more of various ways; including agriculture, fishery and forestry, mining, various vocational uses, artisanry, retailing, factories, offices, homes, care-shelters, leisure, conservation, water management, waste disposal etc etc. The kemnetz quality of the land impacts directly on the health of the environment and the people in that environment.

Ecological land management is a necessity for a clean Kemnet, nutritive agriculture, biodiversity, and therefore health of both people and the environment.

Non-ecological land management inevitably destroys the natural heritage of the land, including soil and water quality, the kemnetz, and biodiversity, making nutritive agriculture impossible. Much loss is not retrievable, and what is, can take a long time.

Globally, in a modern pyramid economy, based on escalating profit production, ecological management of the land becomes unaffordable.

It is difficult for people to get on the land for ecological use, whether for regeneration, eco-improvement or to maintain ecological management into perpetuity. Those who spend decades building up the eco-heritage of an organic farm, for example, can see it disappear suddenly under new ownership. Banks can force traditional farms into receivership or non-eco practices, when there is financial hardship.

Once the eco-heritage of the land is diminished or lost, it is very difficult to retrieve the loss. In the meantime, nutritive food becomes scarcer, while the population increases, causing a fall in ‘health security.’

In a Pyramid Economy, farms and business’s are required to inflate profits annually, and therefore frequently attempt to expand, with a decreasing labor to land ratio. The increasing population has less and less access to the land, and less and less opportunity for vocational satisfaction.

Ecological land use can include;

  • nutritive agriculture; farming and fisheries

  • eco-forestry

  • conservation and research

  • eco-vocational use - e.g. artisan food producers, artisan jewellers, artisan textile workers, ecowoodworkers, eco-builders, eco-retailing, eco horticulture etc

  • education and training - including schools

  • eco- shelter

  • eco-housing for individuals, families and communities

  • eco- shelter for the elderly and vulnerable people

  • eco- family support homes

  • eco-respite centres

  • and more.
